Julia Rowland is an award-winning writer, producer, and director. Her short film credits include Cherry (2016) and Sorry for Your Loss (2017). Her writing has appeared in Toronto Life magazine, The Antigonish Review, The Bookends Review, and other online and print publications.

As a multifaceted storyteller, Julia has also worked as a producer for various production companies, including eOne, Corus Entertainment, and others. She has served as a story editor for narrative features, documentary series, and factual programming.

Despite disliking camping or any vigorous outdoor activities, Julia gravitates towards stories where landscapes and nature play an integral role in the narrative. She is a graduate of the Canadian Film Centre, where she developed two feature films: Greta Follows Rivers and Rearranging (Now titled The Best Laid Plans). The Best Laid Plans was recently part of the Whistler Film Festival’s 2021 Producing Lab and was pitched in the Power Pitch competition at WFF.

Julia most recently worked for Makers, where she produced content for brands such as Sephora, RBC, Olay, and others.

She is always creating, plotting, and brainstorming ways to combine her love of writing, producing, and entertaining. She currently has several factual television shows in early development. Julia believes that a great story — no matter how short or long — can transcend formats and open the way to engaging, provocative conversation.
